Your current U.S. representative for California's 5th congressional district is Tom McClintock, a Republican who's represented the district since 2009.The district covers the northern San Joaquin Valley and central Sierra Nevada — including Gold Country and parts of the Central Valley, all of Amador, Calaveras, Tuolumne, and Mariposa counties, western El Dorado County, and eastern Stanislaus, Madera, and Fresno counties. Cities in the district include most of Modesto, northern Turlock, northern Fresno, Oakdale, Hughson, Riverbank, Sonora, Jackson, Placerville, Mariposa, and El Dorado Hills, plus Yosemite National Park and part of Kings Canyon National Park.

Worth noting: California redrew its congressional maps in 2025 (Prop 50), so CA-05's boundaries are set to change with the next election, though the current boundaries remain in effect for the sitting representative until then. McClintock is also running for reelection in 2026, facing three Democratic challengers — Michael Barkley, Michael Masuda, and Dan Stroud — who qualified for the June 2, 2026 primary ballot.
